alternatives to harmful, chemical or synthetic
products. We minimise waste and landfill,
produce products that will last a very long time
in our climate, and will return naturally to the
earth at the end of their lives. We have a keen
interest in eco-building and can source
specialist materials/skills if needed. We are

Products Interior and exterior paints
Rendona are suppliers of environmentally friendly
water based paints with colours inspired by the
colours of the wild flowers in the Wye Valley. These
colours have been created using natural pigments and
iron oxides blended together to produce a range of
colours that work together in any combination.
The paints are very low in VOCs, making them
pleasant to use and low odour. We do not use mass
production techniques at any point while creating
these paints and are always looking for new energy
saving methods in order to keep our carbon footprint
as small as possible.

Products Manufacturer and Supplier of
Traditional and Ecological Building Materials
Ty - Mawr Lime was established by Nigel Gervis
and Joyce Morgan - Gervis in 1995. They had
purchased Ty - Mawr and wished to repair it
using traditional materials. These were
unavailable locally and so they started to
manufacture lime based mortars, plasters and
paints on the site.
The original focus was on traditional building
products for the conservation of old and
historic buildings. Ty - Mawr mortars, plasters
and paints have been supplied to prestigious
restoration and construction projects in Wales
and the borders including Aberglasney House and
Gardens, Worcester Cathedral, St Teilos Church
in the National Museum and Galleries of Wales,
Nant Clwyd House and The Royal House,
Machynlleth.
Over the years the product range has been
expanded to include ecological paints, finishes
and building products including sheep's wool
insulation, building boards. The company has
also developed new products including Limecrete
Floors, a lightweight insulated flooring system
which is more ecologically friendly than
concrete and Glaster, mortars, plasters and
screeds made with lime and recycled glass. The
latter was used on a building in Cardiff that
won the Grand Designs Eco House award 2006.
Since 1996 Ty - Mawr has run training courses on
the use of traditional and ecological building
materials, with many of the courses accredited
by the University of Wales, Lampeter (see
education section of this directory).
