Car sharing is a relatively new concept that aims to cut road congestion reduce the effects of private car use on the environment, whilst also saving car sharers money. 

To assist the public of South East Wales who are interested in trialling car sharing, Sewta have developed and launched www.sewtacarshare.com, a website that aims to match potential car share partners. Backed by a Welsh Assembly Government transport grant, the site is simple to use and has already helped hundreds of commuters find others in their area who travel on similar journey and are willing to car share. 

The site operates by matching both the start location of a journey (which can be anything from a one-off trip, out of town shopping trip, or a regular commute) with the end destination. The site automatically picks up any common routes taken by members and emails each member if a match is found. An email address is then supplied to each potential sharer and they are then free to contact each other to arrange a journey over a secure Internet link. Your journey details will be automatically matched against any new members that join in the future should they have a similar journey.

The site is ideal for private car users on the daily commute to work, and is an excellent free resource for businesses trying to encourage their staff to travel by more environmentally friendly means, whilst at the same time free up car parking spaces by reducing single occupancy commutes. 

Sewtacarshare is absolutely free to use and has been built and designed for every possible user. Whether you are a driver/passenger or if you would simply be interested in finding an alternative to getting about, then this is the site for you.

This website not only offers to promote car sharing but also gives information on other transport options available to you.

Registration is required in order that the liftshare runs the scheme as securely as possible but this will only take a few minutes.
